Arrow Magazine

Print + Digital Publication

Arrow Magazine was a senior level class project in publication design. The task was to create an 8-page publication that included a front + back cover, masthead, table of contents, two department pages, and a feature spread. In addition to the print version, we had to create a complementary tablet version that featured interactivity and custom content.


The Arrow Brand

I created Arrow to be a design, travel, and lifestyle magazine targeting Millennials. I wanted to highlight articles and photography that appealed to a college student or young professional's sense of adventure and wanderlust. The articles were sourced from small bloggers as well as large publications like USA Today. The photography was sourced from photo services including Unsplash and Pexels. The original advertisements are from brands that appeal to design-minded and modern young men and women, including Herschel Supply Co. and AirBNB.

Materials + Process

Tools used for this project included Adobe InDesign for page layout and the Adobe Publishing Suite for creating the digital tablet version. Creating the DPS meant re-working each page to include scrolling elements, slideshows, buttons, and more. Each week, we critiqued each other's work as a class over the course of six weeks. As a final product, each student's piece was collated and bound into a special edition book.
